A food relief agency for residents of Brookline, Needham, Newton, Waltham, Watertown and Wellesley.
We provide our communities consistent and inclusive access to healthy food, with dignity and kindness.
Our organization is a reliable source of fresh food, groceries and personal care items for thousands of people.
The extraordinary growth in need has pushed us to become a large year-round outdoor operation, yet we have retained the feeling of a small, vibrant volunteer community that works together to be sure that no one is worrying about food or foregoing food for other expenses.
Everyone should have enough food.
Centre Street Celebrates 15 Years of Serving the Community
In 2011, a few concerned individuals discovered that people from Newton as well as those from neighboring cities needed another resource for food assistance.
They established Centre Street Food Pantry and opened a small market in a room in the lower level of Trinity Church that offered shelf stable groceries to approximately ten people a week.
Today, due to the ongoing support from a community full of concerned individuals, Centre Street now gives food to approximately 325 families a week that include over 1,000 people!
We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to our journey. This year we will be finding ways to illustrate our collective impact, exchange stories and acknowledge those who continue to sustain our work. Please consider making a donation by clicking the button below.
Thank You Trinity Parish of Newton Centre
We want to acknowledge Trinity Parish of Newton Centre’s support of Centre Street for the past 15 years. From providing a room for our first market, to relinquishing their own indoor rooms in the Furber Lane annex and the lawn on Furber Lane for our operational needs, to their annual donation of supermarket gift cards at the holidays for our clients - the Trinity Parish community has been an invaluable asset to Centre Street’s mission and our ability to expand to grow to provide food for our neighbors in need.
